Wan Yun Bao is an exchange student from Peking University currently studying at the School of Business. She is enjoying her stay in Sweden and believes her time in Europe has helped to broaden her horizons.
You were awarded the ASEM-DUO scholarship which seeks to 'deepen understanding and awareness between the peoples of Europe and Asia' through student exchange– tell us a bit about that:
- The staff at my university advised me to apply for this grant which would allow me to spend a semester at the School of Business in Stockholm. I agree that exchange contributes to shared understanding and awareness. My experience of the European lifestyle and social environment has increased my understanding of the spirit of Europe. Through my interaction with friends here, I also believe that I get a better position of China in this world and I feel that we have a lot to improve. The social segment in Europe is quite different from what I expected.
What is the most important benefit of studies abroad?
- It broadens my horizons and gives me the chance to see more of the world while I’m still young and energetic. The opportunity to experience a different lifestyle this semester also helps me to adapt to the changing world.
What is your experience so far?
- I have to say it has been very good. Life is kind of easier here, and it’s fun to learn!
What is the best thing about studying at Stockholm University?
- The welcoming people here are the best thing as far as I am concerned. My friends are warm and have good manners.
Would you recommend studies in Sweden?
- Yes, I would recommend studying in Sweden. The social environment here gives me a safe and steady feeling, which is hard to achieve back in China. This is an experience that I will remember and treasure throughout my lifetime.
